Excel 2016 and Makro -> Excel crashes with starview.dll

Hi, a customer of mine is testing SuperOffice Win 8, since he still has many Office Documents with Makros.

Word seems fine, but on Excel 2016 it allways happens, that the excel runs smoothly, you get the data and can edit and save it, but when you close Excel it allways crashes with the following error, i also added the little makro, which ask for a username, if you wanna test.

Any ideas if the error depends on the makro or even on the Win8 Client?

8.0 SR4 in that Test enviroment:

Here the Error and below the libs and makro:

Option Explicit

Public isCanceled As Boolean
Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset, cnn As ADODB.Connection, suoapp As SOApplication

Public Sub auto_open()
Set suoapp = New SOApplication
Set cnn = New ADODB.Connection
cnn.ConnectionString = suoapp.Database.GetADOConnectionString
cnn.Open
cnn.CursorLocation = adUseClient
Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset
rs.Open "select associate_id from associate where name like 'mta' ", cnn, adOpenStatic, adLockReadOnly
If Not rs.EOF Then

MsgBox rs.Fields("associate_id")
End If
rs.Close
MsgBox "Ready"

GoTo Progend
cnn.Close
Exit Sub
Progend:
Set suoapp = Nothing
Set rs = Nothing
Set cnn = Nothing
End Sub

RE: Excel 2016 and Makro -> Excel crashes with starview.dll

Let us first try to eliminate the most obvious candidates..
Does this customer now have more than a single installation?
Upon the crash, could you use some process explorer like e.g. TaskInfo to get the full paths of the resident StarView.dll. I want to make sure that all our loaded dlls come from the exact same directory.

Here is a typicall example of a running SoCrm process prone to crash:
All loaded dlls should come from the same \release\ directory.
Find the SuperOffice Application File process. Go to the Modules tab and sort according to Full Path.

What do you get then?

RE: Excel 2016 and Makro -> Excel crashes with starview.dll

Hello

for our case, fresh laptop with fresh windows 10 and fresh Office 2016 and (when the issue was reported, the first installation of the SO8 client, we can not imagine to have 2 Super office on our laptops. In the mean time we updated the client with SO8 SR6

but the issue is still the same, here are the pathes, I am not able to see anything wrong here but I can send you a PDF with all pathes of the SO8 application directly

Thanks

Hi Markus,
I was able to make your vbs macro code work with my excel 2016 against our latest 8.1 environment. Excel did not crash upon exit. I tried it many times.

This may be an 8.0 issue, hard to say.
I don't have a test environment in place for 8.0 right now.
I tried building the release80 branch but it requires .net 3.5 and all my attempts to install it on my fresh Windows 10 OS failed miserably! Don't get it...

I think you will be better off registering a issue for this.

RE: Excel 2016 and Makro -> Excel crashes with starview.dll

Hi again,
I am able to reproduce this with our latest 8.0.
(Had to use a machine with .net 3.5 pre-installed! I am totaly incapable of installing .net 3.5 on a fresh Window 10 - there are quite a few out there with the same problem!)

Registered:
54913: Release80 + Excel 2016 + ADO Connection cuases Excel to crash upon exit.

Since this problem seems not to exist with 8.1, may I suggest your customer goes all the way and upgrades to 8.1.
