How to enable alarm on appointments by default?

I would like to have alarms enabled on my appointments by default, so I don't have to manually check the box every time I create an appointment. How can this be accomplished?

Is there a way to control this for all users or for individual users?

Hi Lina

Thank you for this reference. I already did set this setting to 5 minutes, but when I create new appointments the reminder is not set anyway.

Best regards,

Jens

Not everything can be made user configurable with the preferences system. We would never see the end of it then.
We have a scripting system for this.
For Web/Online you need to look into service-level events and/or CRM Scripting - not my domain but many here should know much more.

In latest Win client, this simple VB script will do:

-------------- SetDefaultAlarm.txt --------------

Sub OnCurrentAppointmentDefaults
   CurrentAppointment.Alarm = 1
   CurrentAppointment.AlarmOffset = 10
End Sub
-------------------------------------------------------

You could also enable to get an alarm for all appointments at the webtools side:

Hi David,

Thanks for the tip :-) This one was new for me.

No problem :-)

Only drawback of this approach is that the WebTools preferences are saved locally per user, not in the userpreference table, so you can't set this system-wide... (Is there a wish registered to move the WebTools preferences to the database? Can't find it)
