Sales Quote Variables - Not being called

Good afternoon,

We are developing some sales quotes for a client of ours. We have split the quote into two parts: 1) The greeting which was stored as "Template for Quote Document" and 2) a document with some tables displaying quote totals stored as "Template for Quote Details".

When a new quote is created the first document consisting of normal template variables fills in correctly. The quote then correctly calls the seconds document that uses the quote variables. However, those variables are not populating correctly. All the quote tags seem to be correct but I am obviously missing something.

I have looked for some futher rererences on creating quotes but seem to be unable to find anything that would help me in this matter. If anyone knows of some further reference material it would be greatly appreciated.

I have also included a quick screenshot of the problem quote. As mentioned the document below is called but no variables are populating. Can anyone comment on what I may be missing?

Thank you,

Brian

RE: Sales Quote Variables - Not being called

Hello Brian,

this may be a bad question, sorry if it is. We have come across a common mistake, which is to enter a template variables for quotes as text. They HAVE to be inserted as Merge Fields.

If you have done that, please send a sample to support and we will look at it for you.

Here is a guide to creating merge field variables in the quote details document. In the text or proposal part, the quote document, you can use traditional template variables as they will refer only to order level information. In the quote detail you need item details, meaning a list of products, thus, the different method being used. Also make sure you have TableStart:quote, TableStart:line, TableEnd:line, etc. so it matches the information you put inside the table. See the example in the link.

RE: Sales Quote Variables - Not being called

Hi Stein Ove,

You got me! I was entering the variables as text rather than inserting them as merged fields. The variables now populate correctly. Thank you for your help.

One last thing that I hope I am not overlooking. We need to insert a variable for "Date Delivered". I see options for "Delivery Terms" and "Delivery Type" but nothing for the actual date of delivery. Is there an option for this?

Thank you,

Brian

RE: Sales Quote Variables - Not being called

Good to hear. It is quite common :-)

As for the delivery date you could always use one of the extra fields on product I guess if you want delivery date per item. If you want per order, there is no such field in Quote but as each quote is linked to one sale, you should be able to add it as a user defined field on sale and use that for the entire quote!

Good luck!
