udef fields of type check box on contact.
add the udef field column in selection view - doesn't show.
In web client this works fine, but not on win client...
Unfortunately this is a known issue in the Windows client. The archives in Web work different in Web (Netserver based) then in Windows. As far as I know there is no workarround available for this issue.
Not quite. It is true that the Selection of Companies&Contacts in Win is still a hybrid archive but it can handle any udef fields. My guess is that the column width is too small. Try and make it wider. Does that help?
Sorry, my bad. I was looking at the wrong place (company card). I noticed in the print screen that the column was added under selections. Here I can add the UDEF field as a column but see the same behaviour. I try to figute it out.
So you can add a udef column of type checkbox to some archive and not see checkboxes?
Observe that if a column name starts with a dash, -, the name will not be shown in the header. This is an old Win hack.. So it is as expected that "SP" is not shown here, but the checkboxes should show. Verify the column width first of all.Conrad
I did some more testing and added only 2 UDEF columns in a selection. The width for both columns is aprox. 50% of the screen. The column name of the checkbox is CHECK, but it is not shown in the column. The other column is shown correctly.
I will report it as a bug via the usual channels.
i tried making it wider, but no difference.
in 8 sr4 i didn't get the header name and also not the checkboxes.
in 8 sr5 i get the checkboxes, but not the header name
Is the following correct:- Selection of contacts archive- Configure to show only 2 contact (company) udef fields of type checkboxResult: Nothing is shown, no header, no checkboxes for every row.I am having a hard time with this since this code hasn't changed for years..Take a screenshot of the udef fields in the Contact More tab.
> in 8 sr5 i get the checkboxes, but not the header name
Is the name "-SP", or anthing else that starts with a minus sign?If so, then this is correct. The header should not be shown.
yes it starts with a - sign.
So it's by design meant not to be showing?
Yes. The reason for this is that it is very hard to find good descriptive checkbox names using max 2 characters...Remove the minus sign to show it in the column header.
We actually added a "shortLabel" field to the udeffield table for this many years ago but it never made it into the admin gui. The idea being that the archive control would use the shortLabel in the column header if present.
