General considerations
Pocket CRM was first launched to the market in 2009. This version was designed to support phones with a QVGA screen and Java Micro Edition (“J2ME”) support. Since 2009 we have created new versions and extended support for Apple iOS and Google Android with larger screens and touch screen support.
When that is said, our experience is that the application is working slightly different on different phones. First of all when it comes to performance, input method and how the application is started.
The three key factors are:
Hardware |
Operating system on the phone |
Input method |
Hardware
In general you can compare phones with computers meaning: Newer phones are faster than older phones. Older phones in this setting are about two year old phones. A faster phone will give better performance in navigation and updating the screens.
Operating system on the phone
The extent of the Java support is different between the different phone operating system, and in some cases between the different phones. This means that some features in Pocket CRM will not be available on some of the operating systems.
Google Android
Apple iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Input method
Pocket CRM Support keyboards of different types both multitap (12 keys), physical QWERTY keyboards of different types and soft keyboard on touch phones (e.g. Android / iOS). We are depending on the keyboard support that the java platform on each phone offers.
