SOD: SuperOffice CRM 8.3 features turned on for all partner tenants

Update on the next release from SuperOffice: SuperOffice CRM 8.3
The date for when the GDPR is coming into effect is near and as mentioned we are working on delivering additional features and changes in SuperOffice CRM that not only better meet the GDPR requirements, but improvements to the solution in general.  

The key changes this version contain include:

  • New contact card;  the contact has moved from a dialogue box to have it's own screen. All relevant information on a person is therefore available one central place. 
  • Add segmentation fields to Contacts as well as Companies; with more space, more criteria defining a contact is available, and drawing out lists, and views.
  • Free-standing contacts; in this version it is possible to create contacts not linked to a company. This has always been possible in the SuperOffice Service client, but is also now possible in the SuperOffice Sales & Marketing client. 
  • Stop SuperOffice Service from automatically create new contacts; it is possible to stop the system from automatically create new contacts whenever an incoming request has an unknown email address. 
  • General bug fixes;  As always, we address various issues that have been reported to us. Here is a list of the bug fixes in this release.

Your own test installations In SOD

Today we published the latest features to all installations in SOD. 
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the latest features and to check that your own apps and integrations work the way they should.

If you have an app published and discover issues, make sure you report this back to us to appdev@superoffice.com as soon as possible. 
If we have not heard anything from you within May 3rd, we will assume that you have no problems or issues when we release this latest SuperOffice version to customers!

First bug already reported back, minicards that is visible on Company is not visible on Contact when the feature is turned on.

Hi, the description of the new preference "Mandatory company on contact" is not correct.

It says that "Default=NO", but the default behavior corresponds to "Default=YES".

I know Frode, that's because I make the Sales Kit before the product is finished so -sometimes i don't have the images to correspond entirely. But I wanted to show where it will appear in  the Settings and Maintenance. So far this default setting hasn't changed but I expect this to be changed in the next release. 

The decision has been made that after the upgrade (and as a new customer get started) the default setting will be that linking a contact to a company is mandatory. 

Equally, it will be default that SuperOffice Service will automatically create a new contact whenever a request arrives with an unknown email address.

This means that the customer with just SuperOffice CRM will experience least changes after the upgrade. For those with Service, they will notice that when they edit a "Free-standing" contact they need to link it to a company. Otherwise, things will operate the way they are used to.

I will publish a new sales kit version with corrected images once I have the final pieces :-)

Hi Cathrine, the Sales Kit is one thing, but this screenshot is from my SOD. So it's not just a marketing documentation issue, but a technical issue in the client. The preference in WebAdmin says one thing, but is implemented in another way.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but as I see it someone needs to fix the description in the database.

We know about this.
8.3 per se is not actually yet released!
The description in admin comes from primer data.
The default is hard-coded in the code, not data driven by a slot in the prefdesc.
Changing a prefdesc now requires a cdd step.
Since this is not the only prefdesc change, they are being gathered in to one upcoming cdd step.

Hi Conrad, the preference is still there, even if you are not on 8.3. One of our customers migrated from OnSite to Online around the 23rd april, and there we had to manually set the preference to NO in order to edit persons without a company in Service. Even if they didn't have the new Person-screen. So my gut feeling is that the preference creeps into the database during the migration to Online.

We have noticed this in Support as well for existing customers with the latest Online release. We are registering a bug on this. I will give you the ID as soon as this has been done.

Hi Frode,

yes the preference is there. What is wrong is the description for default in Admin.
Our code defaults to "Mandatory contact on person". It does so in the Win client anyway.
So in order to create an Orphan (as we call it) or a Person with no Contact, the preference has to be set to No.

Yes, I agree. The bug here is that the description text in admin states that "Default=NO", but it should say "Default=YES". Like I said in the first forumpost :)
