Pocket CRM - Scanning Business Cards

Hi

Using the latest PocketCRM and trying the the new business card scanning facility, which is brilliant.

However i have a question, I have a created a video which i can send to show my query.

If I scan business card which is an existing company but not an existing team member, the system does not allow me to link to an existing company (manual link) and as such creates a new company.

Whats am I missing with this?

i can confirm it. Just tested it by myself.

I found an internal Bug Report of it.

 

So it will be addressed

When you filed the bug you got a reply email with the bug number. Just reply to that email with the video attached.  If you did not send in a bug report, just send in an email to beta@superoffice.com and explain your issue with the details like phone, OS version, Pocket version (look in Settings and About Pocket in the Pocket CRM app). 

We have not been able to reproduce your issue with the details described in this Forum post so we would like your report. 

We have also not been able to find the issue mentioned by Alex so we would very much like to know the issue number you are referring to

HI Jan,

Internaly (TFS) you can find as we thought it's a Bug which indicates that it should be Possible to add a Person and not Only Company via Scanning Business Cards.

Sorry if we understood this wrong.

Just tested it again and i get the same results as Tony.

As he will send a Video it's easier to understand.

Hi,

it seems that the problem your are experiencing, where existing companies are not detected, are related to the department field.

Since the business card scanner does not allow specifying a department, it will not match correctly with the existing records that have department specified.

We will look into fixing this, making the matching smarter, and if more than one company exist, allow the user to chose which company/department to use.

Disappointed to see todays release of the PocketCRM product V8.0.51 still does not resolve this key issue with Business Card Scanning.

Our customers are crying out to start using this function but without the fix to linking to existing companies it just doesn't work.

Any idea when we are looking at a fix on this?

Your usecase is very interesting and we are still working with it. It requires some interaction where the user can select the correct Company to link the new Person to.

Please go to Community and Bugs & Wishes section to add this bug to "My tracked issues" so you are able to follow it's status.

Hi All

Further to the recent release of the latest PocketCRM release I have just tried it and have the same problem.

This may be down to me and my explanation.

We have a number of clients now using the PocketCRM system and a key draw to use this is the new business card scanning. If a user scans the business card of someone who's business already exists in SuperOffice, the business card scanner creates a new company and a new contact.

If we scan a business card, the system checks if the person exists and takes you to the account, fantastic.

However if the person does not exist but the company does, we need to the add the new contact to the existing company.

Am I doing something wrong here, please advice as I can't add a new contact to an existing business.

The business card scanner should - in theory - be able to detect if a company already exist, and ask what company the person  should be added to:

 

However, the detection of the company listed on the card is not perfect, and depends on lighting, orientation and layout of the card.

Do you have an example of a business card having this problem?

This is the screen I want to see.

I will send you a business card tomorrow as I am currently in another office.

I actually had our marketing department create a business card of a made up person in order to make sure it works however I never get the screen you are showing.

I am using an iPhone X for the testing, I don't if this makes a difference? As I know some addresses don't show properly and this seems to relate to the X only as all other devices seem fine.

The business card scanner works well in a number of situations, in other, not so much: It seems that the 'company finder' routine is unable to find anything but an exact match?

So the problem is that if I scan a new card that is not recognized it could be for as simple a reason as the name being with/without a final AS (a.k.a. Ltd. etc).
Easy enough when I sit by my computer (so I can have two instances and check SO against the Pocket scan), but I would like to not have this limitation:

When I get the preview after the scan, I can change the company name and if I can change it to the exact spelling used in SO, all works fine.
But I am not able to see what companies already exists (with a similar name)  in SO and so I get duplicates and have to access SO, move person and delete the scanned company. Not productive.

I have tried with % in company name bu as far as I can tell, the scanned preview only accepts a full match on company name.

Is there a better way to do this with a partial match function?
