Hi,

SOD release SuperOffice CRM Online 10.3 Build main_10.3.7_2024.06.04-09 now contains the follow option on the top menu task button:

Here you can see your custom tables and create a search on it, with no way to save it as a selection. (?)

Why was it chosen to do it like this? Users are used to searching for things using the find button:

and then open existing selections using the selection menu.

Users do not always know (and shoud not need to know) what entities are 'standard' and what are 'custom objects', so it is not a good user experience to have to explain customers that for 'normal entities' you can search using find/selection, and for custom objects you need to go to an entirely seperate menu.

Why not integrate it into the find menu as a seperate icon per custom object (and having you set a custom icon for it)

Something like this:

Or just a single tile with a dropdown for which custom object

This would be much more natural for the normal user.

I agree. When you learn the users that +New and Find are the places for creating or finding something.

It is important to keep that flow.

This thread is relevant.

New follow-up does not remember current object (superoffice.com)

I agree, this is a surprising place to having to click to do searches on custom objects. Hopefully this is temporary before its moved to Find at some point? Being able to create selections is also something I hope to see.

Hey,
As many customers have alot of Custom objects that they dont necessarily want to create selections on, we opt-ed to NOT include every custom object table on Find screen but rather create an additional property in table definition to include it in Find, those that does not have property enabled will be maintained from Custom object overview.

With even the option to upload your own icon, awesome!

Ah, that's great, and makes a lot of sense!

I was wondering how you would solve this :) Since there arent all custom objects that needs to be visible in Find. Good solution !

Hey,

when will this additional property be available? I have a SuperOffice CRM Online 10.3 Build Release_10.3.7_2024.06.05-01 database, but the property is not availabe, either on existing tables nor on new ones.

I see the property when editing any extra table, on SOD version 'SuperOffice CRM Online 10.3 Build main_10.3.8_2024.06.07-01'

It does require you to have correct FeatureToggle enabled.

OK, I think I'll have to wait for the 10.3.8 in my demo-environment (not SOD).

Hey, i'm struggeling to get a svg file with any common tool like paint, is there a way to open it up for jpg/png or a more common file format?

10. Juni 2024 | 06:49 AM
Hi,
Unfortunately it will stay as svg since this is the format which is easiest to actually scale properly. It should be easy to find free svg icons that suit your needs.

FYI I've used https://www.svgrepo.com/
IE.: to edit the .svg-file: https://www.svgrepo.com/svg/25407/car?edit=true

I used https://app.svgator.com/ which also worked fine, you can easily create an account with any gmail adress ;)

In general we are very happy, how this turned out 😀

one issue in generall, which comes up, since customer objects are more accessible for users is:

  • can the menu custom object be hidden in user roles?
  • access/edit right per extra table:
    • users should be able to add machines as an example (so they need the functional role edit table)
    • but obviously we don't want all users to be able to edit/delete machine types, or other certain tables which only admin should be able to edit/delete

+1 access rights per table, see my separate thread about that: https://community.superoffice.com/en/forums/pilot-program/custom-objects/introduce-additional-access-control-settings-per-custom-table/

To start with we will just support the same possibilities as we did in the Old Service client. This means that for each Role in admin you can assign "List tables" or "Edit tables" as user rights.

I have done some testing and observe that:

  • The menu item "Custom objects" is NOT visible, if you have functional right: "List tables" but do not have "Edit tables" >> I would expect the item to be available?
