Our customer has large number of customizations in old Service screens, including ejscript-elements and also pure javascript manipulating html. I cannot find similar options in new Screen Designer so are these out of question?

Currently none of those options are supported in the screen designer, in the mean time you can use a 'hybrid' approach by enabling the custom objects functionality, but use the 'old' service screens for viewing/modification, you can do this by configuring the edit and display screen choosers of the custom table. The custom objects functionality will use these if present instead of showing the screen designer screen.
