Hi
We have a large tree of categories for service since we manage both support requests, sales request and much more in Service.
Our challenge is that it seems that when we have a subcategory, it does not inherit the settings from the parent.
Example, we have a category called Leads with subcategory Webinar.
Leads is only visible for members and we have added a long list of members (unfortunately, we cannot use groups here)
The subcategory Webinar does not inherit this setting, so we need to set it to members only and add the same long list of members.
With a tree with 100s of subcategories, this is a time consuming process.
Anyone with a hint how this can be managed in a better way or how to get the categories to work with inheritance from parent categories?
Thanks in advance
Ole

Hi Ole,
You mentioned “unfortunately, we cannot use groups here”
may I ask why that is?
I assume you are already aware of the following possibility, but I’d like to double-check first:
Admin → Lists → General → User Groups, then select one of your groups and use the field “Categories used by this user group.”
Alternatively, you can go to:
Admin → Users → Select any user → Service categories, and manually assign categories.
The advantage here is that when you select a category, the system automatically includes its subcategories as well. Maybe that could speed up the process?
If neither of these suggestions works in your situation, it might be worth exploring whether a small customization could help simplify the management of your Service categories.
Hi Donatas
I will try to look at that, thank you for your answer.
The place I'm referring to is in the setup for categories, here you can only select members 1 by 1 and not by group.
Have a great day
Ole
